The Department issues written certification of licensure to provide a licensee’s official information on the basis of licensure for a variety of purposes. The Department also issues written verification of licensure confirming an individual is licensed in NYS and their registration status.
Request Written License Certification or Verification. A license indicates that an individual has met the minimum requirements of the Education Law to enter practice or use a professional title within New York State (NYS).
Verification Searches. The information furnished at this web site is from the Office of Professions' official database and is updated daily, Monday through Friday. The Office of Professions considers this information to be a secure, primary source for license verification.
Click on the "Search" button to begin your search. The screen will display a list starting with a name which best matches the sequence of letters you entered. Scroll through the list to locate the licensee whose record you seek, then click on the license number to view that record. Search by name.
You may search as follows: By ID Number (Unique ID or Registration Number) By Name (last name, first name and optionally city/zip code/county) By Business Name (business name and optionally city/zip code/county) search a licensee. Searches are currently available for the following types of licenses/registrations.
Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information.
Search by Name. Choose to search by Individual or Organization, enter your search criteria and press "Search" to find a license. Press "Back" to return to the previous screen. Press "Clear" to clear the search criteria.
