We mailed Senior Freeze applications on February 12, 2024. First-time filers or those who must reestablish a base year may print the PTR-1 application and/or instructions or file online. The deadline for 2023 application is October 31, 2024.

What is the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption ("Senior Freeze")? (35 ILCS 200/15-172) allows you, as a qualified senior citizen, to have your home’s equalized assessed value (EAV) “frozen” at a base year value and prevent or limit any increase due to inflation.
