Fixed mooring buoys are the tried-and-true, bread and butter of the NERACOOS ocean monitoring network; buoys are useful in that they can be outfitted with all sorts of sensors that provide near real-time information on conditions both above and below water.

The data in the display comes from NERACOOS supported buoys that are deployed throughout the northeast and that have been collecting hourly weather and ocean data for the past 10+ years. The interactive charting tool allows you to toggle between buoys, data types, and time period.
You can find a new buoy map (with even more stations) with latest observations by going to the Mariners’ Dashboard and clicking on a platform from the map. The latest conditions for that buoy will be shown directly under the map. You can also access the last 12 hours, 7 days, and forecasts.
