The Central Information Commission has been constituted with effect from 12-10-2005 under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The jurisdiction of the Commission extends over all Central Public Authorities.The Commission has certain powers and functions mentioned in sections 18, 19, 20 and 25 of the RTI Act, 2005.
The Rajasthan Information Commission (RIC) was established by the State Government of Rajasthan in April 2006. RIC is the final appellate authority with regard to the matters mentioned in the Right to Information Act, 2005.
The Right to Information Act of 2005 provides for the creation of not only the Central Information Commission but also a State Information Commission at the state level. Accordingly, Rajasthan Information Commission (RIC) was constituted on April 18, 2006.
