Dawka nasycająca zależy od masy ciała i wynosi 10–15 µg/kg mc./d w 2–3 daw. podz. co 6–8 h. W nasycaniu powolnym podaje się 250–750 µg/d, co u chorych z prawidłową czynnością nerek doprowadza w ciągu 6–7 dni do uzyskania stężenia stacjonarnego. Zwykle stosowana dawka podtrzymująca wynosi 250 µg 1–2 ×/d.
A dose of more than 4 mg glimepiride per day gives better results only in exceptional cases. The maximum recommended dose is 6 mg glimepiride per day. In patients not adequately controlled with the maximum daily dose of metformin, concomitant glimepiride therapy can be initiated.
