The Campbell Tunnel is an abandoned railroad tunnel in southeast Ohio that was part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad’s Hocking Valley Division. The tunnel was a part of the Gallipolis, McArthur & Columbus Railroad (GM&C) , which began constructing a line between the Ohio River at Pomeroy and Logan via McArthur, Vinton, and Gallipolis in 1872.
On the day we visited the site, quite a few of the locals could be found driving their trucks in and out of this massive tunnel which is considerably cooler than the outside summer heat. GPS Location: 39º07’16.8″N 82º22’52.9″W
