I did some googling and found these two mod managers as recommended so I started with mod manager 2. My computer detected it as a threat and removed the .exe file from the download. I did do some research on whether it was harmful to my pc, but I’m still iffy on it.

There are really only three to choose from: Vortex, Mod Organizer 2 (MO2) and Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). Go with either Vortex or MO2. The meta on which is more difficult to use seems to have changed. Years ago this sub preferred Vortex with MO2 kind of being the silent "pro" portion of the sub.

If a game has a dedicated mod manager, I strongly recommend using that. To install a mod using a mod manager, simply follow the on-screen instructions for whichever tool you're using.
