I finally had a brainwave and started putting my list in spreadsheets on google docs. I have been refining the sheet itself with each new deck. This is my best template so far.
With the new slivers and colorless commanders having come out recently I'm sure a lot of people have started to accidentally pick up on this challenge. Though, to fix the unorganized mess that every person had; I found a way to organize it in a spreadsheet in google docs.

Open the template and click "File-Create a copy" to make an editable version of the document; fill in the first column with the list of spells in your deck (and lands like Maze of Ith, which don't make mana and are purely functional).
