Are the Camera and the Microphone external devices or inbuilt into the Mac? Are the Camera and Microphone working with other applications on the system? If they are not working with Messenger alone, try removing the preferences associated with Messenger and check if it helps:

I brought this iBook just for 1 week, still not familiar with it, the problem with me at this moment is that i have installed MSN messenger for Mac, by the way, I can't use microphone as well as cam, it makes the messenger no fun and boring.
If you're talking about 'MSN' messenger then there is no voice/video abilities with the Mac supported version of that app. There are substitutes for the msn network such as aMSN - a lot of people consider Skype the best video/audio alternative to use between Mac and Windows.

10 sie 2006 · I've borrowed a MacBook recently and I downloaded Msn Messenger for Mac. It has many limitations in it but the main one that annoys me is that I can't do video conferencing or audio conferencing (even though it has a camera and mic built in).
I use Adium in my mac as a client for MSN messenger. (I have also tried the "official" live messenger for mac for a while but it had even worse issues than what I am experiencing with Adium).
