Microsoft DOS 6.22 was the last standalone version from Microsoft. It was also the last from Microsoft to run on an 8088, 8086, or 286. 6.22 adds DriveSpace, a replacement for DOS 6.20's DoubleSpace drive compression that was removed in 6.21.

11 sie 2015 · Installing from floppies on an unpartitioned drive-> Setup will create the partition, format the drive and install MS-DOS 6.22. Installing from a bootable CD on a previously partitioned and formatted drive -> Setup will install MS-DOS 6.22 just fine.
9 lip 2017 · According to this link, it's not possible at all to use Rufus to create a bootable USB for specific versions of MS-DOS. By contrast, UNetbootin seems to accept the ISO when creating the bootable USB, but booting into it causes the boot loop described here.
