My tips to get to level 6 by Mountain Pass! Level 3: Ravaged Beach, get 3 companions, Crypt (get NPC), get 4th companion (SH, Astarion, Gale, Laezel). Go to grove, explore entire grove to get quests/talk to NPCs for XP.
I dislike the "transition" for the Mountain Pass. In my latest playthrough I made my way to the Risen Road, and was doing things there, and by RP'ing my characters I ended up in the Mountain Pass on the way to help Lae'zel. However, this doomed Halsin and broke the Tiefling quest.

From The Risen Road, head west past Waukeen’s Rest onto the Mountain Pass, and then head further west and cross the bridge to enter Rosymorn Monastery Trail.
