In an effort by the UAE government to eliminate the need for physical IDs that are prone to getting tapped, stolen, or lost, the Ministry on Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) in July 2014 announced that it will providing digital copies of all labour cards and contracts in the country.
In case of new contracts, the competent administration at the Ministry shall receive the labour card and new employment contract after the signature of the employee and employer, in addition to a photograph of the employee, as a file in his name shall be opened in the system at the Ministry.
