5 sie 2009 · Spoke to my mechanic today who specializes in Super Duties. He says he is seeing quite a few HPOP's needing to be replaced on the 7.3L. I had a massive oil leak around a year ago that ended up being the seals failing. However not so lucky this time, he says the pump housing is cracked and leaking.
Install the oil pump to the engine and tighten the bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications. Note: Prime the oil pump prior to installation. Pour clean oil into the pick-up port and turn the pump by hand.
