The licensing of barbers and the barber board was created in 1899, the licensing of cosmetologists began in 1929 and the State Board of Cosmetology was created in 1956. The board enforces Chapters 328 and 329, RSMo, and regulates barbers, cosmetologists, manicurists, estheticians, instructors, salons, barbershops and cosmetology and barber schools.
