I just finished SotE last night and was hoping to buy mithril/addy items for giant's foundry from the armor shop, but it looks like you only get about half the cost back from that (65k spent -> 35k reward for a 14mith/14addy, ~3 gp/xp) which is still probably worth it over buying gold ore for blast furnace.
Honestly, you might as well wait until you finish dragon slayer and get rune plate from the store. Getting a rune scim might be hard so the rune sword (level 40, the sword shop in varrock”) is the best until you get dragon scimitar (level 60, after Monkey Madness).
