This program is designed to give current paramedics the training and education they need to become certified community paramedics. Community paramedics work with public health organizations and primary caregivers to serve patients in isolated areas.
The Community Paramedic Program at Mineral Area College is a 16-week hybrid course. All didactic material will be presented online. There will be one lab day (two options, students must attend one of the two) as well as 40 hours of scheduled clinical experience.
The community based program will train paramedics to operate in expanded roles to provide non-emergency health services and help identify patient needs for local services. The training will allow paramedics to apply for the Missouri Community Paramedic certification.
The program prepares graduates for entry-level paramedic positions. Completion of the course allows the students that are eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination for the EMT-Paramedic. Contact paramedic.education@bc-ems.com for more information.
