26 gru 2017 · This thread is to share a (hopefully quick) overhaul of a secondhand Minimax S45 bandsaw in real time. I'm working on this with my buddy Deema and our aim for the saw is to give it a good clean, a thorough mechanical overhaul and ensure the electrics are safe and robust.
The minimax s 45n is an SCM Group made 2.5hp motor bandsaw. With over 20 years of service to the American Market and produced on the same line as the world-famous combination machine line, the S45N is a great saw for custom furniture makers.
The SCM Minimax S 45n is an entry-level band saw for hobbyists and small professional workshops. It is a unique machine among SCM’s band saws, and lacks a few features that all their other band saws have. It makes up for this with a lower price.
As a reminder, here is the two part pressed steel assembly that carries the upper wheel, tilts it for tracking and allows 30 to 40mm of vertical movement. In this image, the two parts have been opened like a book so that you can see the inside.

After doing some research it appears that a single phase IEC motor with a face mounting exist but are near impossible to source. I was kicking around the idea of trying to replace it with a standard base mount NEMA motor and use some angle iron to fabricate a L bracket to mount ...
