The Hotel Metropol Moscow[1] (Russian: Метрополь, IPA: [mʲɪtrɐˈpolʲ]) is a historic hotel in the center of Moscow, Russia, built between 1899 and 1905 in the Art Nouveau style. It is the largest extant Moscow hotel built before the Russian Revolution of 1917.

The Metropol was initially designed by a patron of arts, the owner of the Russia’s first opera, Savva Mamontov, as a “theater with a hotel”. Mamontov engaged the architect William Walcot, the artists Mikhail Vrubel, Nikolay Andreev and many other persons to develop the project. More details.
