21 sie 2022 · Dosage of metronidazole for dogs. According to the NOAH Compendium of Data Sheets for Animal Medicines, the recommended dose of metronidazole for dogs is 50 mg/kg/day (or about 22 mg/lb/day) for 5-7 days – this can be split into 25 mg/kg (or about 11 mg/lb) twice per day if needed.
However, although successful treatment of dogs with metronidazole has been reported (25 mg/kg, every 12 hours, or 50 mg/kg per day, for 5 days), and it is licensed in most European countries for treating both dogs and cats, it has been associated with serious adverse effects of the CNS in dogs after chronic treatment or high doses.
