Megatron used to be a fighter in the gladiatorial pits of Kaon. So he is an extremely skilled and experienced fighter. Megatron has an extremely high pain tolerance, as he wanted to stay awake when his arm was being removed by Knockout so he could replace it with the arm of a prime.
In Darkness Rising, Part 1, Megatron returns from searching the void for three years. Megatron found something better than mere warriors: he discovered a new source of Dark Energon, the "blood of Unicron", with which he could reanimate fallen Transformers as an army of the undead.
