A climatology of the wind waves in the Mediterranean Sea is presented. The climate patterns, their spatio-temporal variability and change are based on a 40-year (1980–2019) wave hindcast, obtained by combining the ERA5 reanalysis wind forcing with the state-of-the-art WAVEWATCH III spectral wave model and verified against satellite altimetry.
1 lis 2021 · The climate variability of wind waves is evaluated at seasonal scale by proposing and adopting a definition of seasons for the Mediterranean Sea states that is based on the satellite...
waves statistics at specied points of the Mediterranean Sea at pratically every offshore location (at about 50 km intervals). 1.2 General description of the atlas’s content
9 wrz 2022 · In the Mediterranean Sea, coastal extreme sea levels are mainly caused by storm surges driven by atmospheric pressure and surface winds from extratropical cyclones.
The wave climate of the Mediterranean basin is considered as derived from a ten year long time series of wave model data. The work presented here is part of the MEDATLAS project, whose aim is the edition of a Wind and Wave Atlas of the Mediterranean Sea, both in electronic and printed form.
3 lis 2021 · In the present study, we elaborate a detailed assessment of the changes in wave climates observed during the last 41 years in the WMed, and those focusing on the trends of mean and Max SWH, mean and Max WS, and on the last records of Max SWH observed during the last decade.
21 lip 2005 · This thesis applies new methods to understanding and interpreting the structure of the Mediterranean basin through three different specific studies (chapters 5 to 7), each of which applies...
