The origin of the Mayfield Heights Fire Department can be traced back to 1927 when Village Marshal Nick Wright captured a bootlegger who was transporting moonshine in a 1920 Studebaker truck. Marshal Wright confiscated the truck and had it converted into the village's 1st fire truck.
