I saw the opportunity with rose-colored glasses and did not read Pink Truth and this forum until after my orientation.
I use to be a Mary Kay consultant and I honestly cannot relate to anything that was said. I joined to so I could get discounts on makeup and skin care, which they have good products. I was never pressured into buying or recruiting new team members. I could pretty much do whatever I wanted with my business.

Mary Kay is opportunistic and predatory, like all MLMs. My best friend was recruited a while ago by a woman who approached her while my friend was doing her job. I went with her to a party to support her, and gosh... what they were saying was practically disgusting. The shady sales tactics, the promises of fortunes.

My aunt is this for these weird cleaning cloths that she swears by, idr the name. But theres no quota or anything with them. Mary kay is well known enough i bet there are customer consultants as well as many who claim to be customer consultants as a way to explain their lack of success or get your guard down.
