17 kwi 2010 · My D-21 Special is the exception and a definite keeper. On a couple of occasions I've lined up my J-45R, D-25, DV-52, and F50R Special, and the D-21 has the most character hands down. I use it extensively for writing, recording, and rehearsal, but not for stage.

Over the years, style-21 guitars have been built with either ebony or rosewood fingerboards and bridges, and the new D-21 Special’s are rosewood, the same as the D-21s Martin built in the 1950s.

22 wrz 2017 · Following the July release of the uber cool Model America 1, officially a limited edition in the Standard Series, Martin has released the D-21 Special, limited to 300 guitars. It has Indian rosewood back and sides, and a Sitka spruce top that has no vintage, aging or antique toner.
10 paź 2015 · Tactile and woody with a crisp yet more subtle attack and a presence that isn’t muddy or unclear, the D-21 is more controllable than the big, broody D-28. I have experienced many examples of the 21 series and they are consistent and completely unique from this perspective.
30 lip 2010 · D-21's are basically a D-18 with brazilian back and sides as well. They have the D-28 position markers on the fretboard as well. D-18 rosette, bindings, tuners, and a D-28 backstrip. D-21's are much more appealing to my eyes than D-28's. I like the tortise binding better.
The original D-21's were only in production for fourteen years (1955-1969), but this Special Production D-21 recaptures the rich, seasoned tones and ultra smooth playability that the mid-century Martin dreadnoughts are known for.
