1 mar 2012 · The CQBR Upper Receiver is a drop in replacement for the M4A1 standard upper receiver and when installed is known as the Mk18 by type-designation. It was originally intended to replace the 9mm MP5 series of sub-machine guns with a weapon firing the common 5.56mm round capable of penetrating body armor, while still making use of SOPMOD accessories.

CQBR type 1: Made from M4A1 uppers by shortening the barrels and opening gas ports, no longer produced, STD carbine buffer in use in host lowers at time of fielding. H works with M193 and M855. H2 needed for MK 262, MK 255 R2LP, or MK 311 R2LP; will still reliably feed and fire M193/M855.
The mws(m4a1), cqbr(mk18 mod0), mk18 mod1 share the same colt markings receiver. The mtr versions, besides some cosmetical differences to make it like a custom racegun, are also internally the same - with the exception of the added bolt release lever extension on the right side of the receiver and ambi controls.
