17 lut 2024 · All USMC M40 clones are welcome, but don't build a rifle with one or 2 M40'ish parts and call it an M40 clone. An M40 is an easy sniper rifle to clone, and its possible to build an extremely nice rifle without spending a lot of money.

16 lut 2015 · Adopted by the United States Marine Corps in 2009, the M40A5 bolt action sniper rifle supersedes the M40A3 (both are still in use by active duty Marines). The Marine Corps is unique among the services since it actually builds its own sniper rifles.
During the Vietnam War, the Marine Corps decided they needed a standard sniper rifle. After testing several possibilities, they ordered seven hundred Remington Model 40x rifles (target/varmint version of the Model 700 bolt-action rifle), and gave them the M40 designation.
