15 lut 2019 · This story was probably a story that Luke wanted to include because not only did it show the power of God and what He is capable of doing, but it also showed many “residents of Lydda and Sharon” what God is capable of doing and it turned all of them to the Lord (Acts 9:35).
There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose. And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord. We have four verses this morning.
Lydda, the Lud of the Old Testament (1Chronicles 8:12; Ezra 2:33; Nehemiah 7:37; Nehemiah 11:35), was a town in the rich plain of Sharon, one day’s journey from Jerusalem, founded originally by settlers from the tribe of Benjamin, and retaining to the present day its old name as Ludd.
