There are various reputable and legit "expert network" companies (search this subreddit for that term), such as GLG. I can imagine some of them might be borderline sketchy though. These companies basically scout potentially knowledgeable people on certain (niche) industries for "expert interviews".
After that they had like 5,000 postings on all the sites it was so annoying trying to sift through their crap to find actual job postings. It took me four months to find real employment. EDIT: I think it goes without saying, but I put stars instead of a violent word. I am not actually contemplating a crime.

These companies are flat out scammers. If you need industry specific data for free, try contacting analysts on the top stocks in that industry and seeing if they will give you their industry reports.
