The calloc () function allocates memory for an array of nmemb elements of size bytes each and returns a pointer to the allocated memory. The memory is set to zero. If nmemb or size is 0, then calloc () returns either NULL, or a unique pointer value that can later be successfully passed to free ().
Upon successful completion with both nelem and elsize non-zero, calloc () shall return a pointer to the allocated space. If either nelem or elsize is 0, then either: * A null pointer shall be returned and errno may be set to an implementation-defined value, or * A pointer to the allocated space shall be returned.
The free() function shall cause the space pointed to by ptr to be deallocated; that is, made available for further allocation. If ptr is a null pointer, no action shall occur.
