30 mar 2020 · Refraction ( bending of light ) happens when light travels between two mediums. In the refraction experiment above light travels from the arrow through the air, through the glass, the water, the glass again and air again before reaching your eyes.

OBJECTIVES. The transmission of light across a boundary between two media is accompanied by a change in both the speed and wavelength of the wave. This can result in a change of direction at the boundary, a phenomenon known as refraction.
I can describe and draw how a ray of light refracts when it moves from one medium to another, and explain how refraction can cause virtual images.
Objectives & Grade Level. Demonstrate reflection of light using a metal spoon and show how curved surfaces differ in the images they reflect. Demonstrate refraction of light as it travels from air into water using a laser pointer and a container of water.
In this experiment you aim a beam of light so that it moves through one transparent medium into another. When light passes from one material into another its direction of travel generally changes. This bending process is called refraction. The amount of bending depends on the properties of the media.
Explore bending of light between two media with different indices of refraction. See how changing from air to water to glass changes the bending angle. Play with prisms of different shapes and make rainbows.
When light is slowed down, it either bounces off the material, or it is bent as it passes through. We can see these changes in light, which indicates to us that something is there. In this experiment you will play with light to make normal objects appear and disappear!
