Walk to the bathroom and do all self-care activities, such as brushing your teeth and washing your face. Walk 10 or more laps around the nursing unit. 4 days after surgery: Sit in your chair for 5 or more hours. Sit in your chair during your meals.
After surgery, most patients will experience urine leakage (incontinence) that can last for up to six months. Urine leakage can occur during the day and/or night, and some patients may need to wear a pad to absorb the urine.
What happens. You have a bladder reconstruction during the operation to remove your bladder (cystectomy). You have this operation while you’re asleep so you will have a general anaesthetic. The operations takes between 2 and 6 hours. There are several ways of doing this operation.
