16 maj 2022 · It is this knowledge that leads Jesus to answer the obstacle that has stood between the man and his healing: as Jesus speaks to him, he is no longer alone; the man has someone who will help him, advocate for him, be with him and acknowledge him as a human being with worth. He has the very man who is also God.
THE CONTEXT. In chapter 2 Jesus worked his first sign, turning water into wine (2:1-12). He then went to Capernaum for a brief visit (2:12), after which he went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. While there, he cleansed the temple. Many believed because of the signs he was doing (2:13-25).
1 maj 2016 · Commentary on John 5:1-9. The man healed in this story is perhaps the least willing and the least grateful of all the people Jesus heals in John’s Gospel. The setting of the healing is a pool called Bethzatha near the Sheep’s Gate in Jerusalem (John 5:2).

The royal official had heard about Jesus and expressed his faith in Jesus when he went home believing Jesus had healed his son. In chapter 5, we will see conflict more than faith resulting from Jesus healing a sick man. The Jews required a pilgrimage to Jerusalem for three different festivals: Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles.
31 paź 2003 · Les’ main nemesis was a radio station called WPIG. Not only did the station mock the good name of pigs, but they had a traffic helicopter. This shall not stand! Les felt his newscast would gain extra cred if he too had a traffic copter (“Mr Carlson, what we've got here is a helicopter gap”).
