  2. The deltoid ligament is a fan shaped band of connective tissue on the medial side of the ankle (Figure 11). It runs from the medial malleolus down into the talus and calcaneus. The deeper branch of the ligament is securely fastened in the talus, while the more superficial, broader aspect runs into the calcaneus.

  3. 8 lut 2019 · The medial ligament (or deltoid ligament) is attached to the medial malleolus (a bony prominence projecting from the medial aspect of the distal tibia). It consists of four ligaments, which fan out from the malleolus, attaching to the talus, calcaneus and navicular bones.

  4. 3 lis 2023 · The upper ankle joint is formed by the inferior surfaces of tibia and fibula, and the superior surface of talus. The lower ankle joint is formed by the talus, calcaneus, and navicular bone. The joint is supported by a set of ankle ligaments: the medial collateral or deltoid ligament, and lateral collateral ligament.

  5. Medial ligament. The deltoid ligament, consists of four ligaments that form a triangle connecting the tibia to the navicular, the calcaneus, and the talus. It stabilises the ankle joint during eversion of the foot and prevents subluxation of the ankle joint.

  6. A thick ligament, called the deltoid ligament, supports the medial ankle (the side closest to your other ankle). Ligaments also support the lower end of the leg where it forms a hinge for the ankle. This series of ligaments supports the ankle syndesmosis, the part of the ankle where the bottom end of the fibula meets the tibia. Three main ...
