1 mar 2020 · Minimally invasive sigmoid colectomy via the laparoscopic approach (LA) has numerous benefits. We seek to compare outcomes between laparoscopic and robotic sigmoid colectomies. We analyzed the data using the National Inpatient Sample database between 2008 and 2014.
We analyzed categorical variables as frequencies (percentages) and continuous variables as medians (ranges). We made between-groups comparisons for the laparoscopic group vs. the open sur-gery groups using the Mann-Whitney U-test for continuous vari-ables and the chi-square test or Fisher exact test for categorical variables.
