If your travel to the Superior Hiking Trail includes driving on I-35 (through Duluth), we recommend adding extra time to your schedule, or finding an alternate route as you approach Duluth. I-35 Construction and delays are expected all summer long. The construction is happening near the I-535 interchange.
Shuttle services are also available along the trail. Southern sections are accessed from Interstate Highway 35 and Duluth city streets, while Northern sections are accessed directly from Minnesota Highway 61, spur trails or intersecting roads. 28 lip 2022 · The rugged and scenic Superior Hiking Trail (SHT), a 310-mile path starting just south of Duluth and following the North Shore of Lake Superior to Canada, puts all those notions to rest.
We are now taking reservations for the 2024 Hiking Season! Our Customized Shuttle Service is available year-round, six days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Our Customized Shuttle Service is generally not available on Wednesdays.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we discontinued our Scheduled Shuttle Service. This has always been our most cost-effective way of riding the shuttle. Multiple groups could share the vehicles and it operated on a specific time schedule. Walk-on-hikers could also board if seats were available.
Enjoy 310+ miles of trail along Lake Superior's North Shore. The Superior Hiking Trail is ideal for day trips, thru-hikes, backpacking, and trail running.
Full thru-hikes generally take 2-4 weeks. Taking a “shake-down” trip of 1-2 nights will help you to determine your pace and give you a chance to field test your gear before setting off. We highly recommend a few day hikes or a short backpacking trip on the SHT before setting forth on a thru-hike.
