The major goal of this study was to evaluate Norma 223 brass in comparison to Lapua, PPU and Lake City brass in hopes of identifying a case that could be used to replace Lapua brass in my match rifles.
2 kwi 2013 · I shoot a lot of Lake City (unfired new brass purchased from Natchez when we could get it) Excellent brass but when I quit using Winchester cases, I couldn't get enough Varget into Lake City to seat the bullets.
9 maj 2014 · Catshooter notes that both Lake City and Lapua are significantly harder than either Winchester and Remington .223 brass. That’s something that we’ve observed empirically (Lapua and LC stand up better to stout loads), but now we have some hard numbers to back that up.
2 lut 2020 · Velocites using Lapua and Wolf Gold brass with an identical load were practically the same. I'm assuming their volumes are similar. Winchester brass was noticeably thinner/softer than both and seemed to be of higher volume.
29 wrz 2021 · Lapua .223 brass is better than Lake City in every single way. Lapua is the best brass for reloading, period. Lapua and Lake City are both the same thickness and case capacity and interchange well... but Lapua is WAY more consistent.

9 sie 2023 · I’ve finished up my evaluation of 223 Norma brass as a replacement for Lapua brass in my match bolt-action rifles. Although Norma Primed brass (SKU NOR121201893) had thin case neck walls, 21 cases that were tested held up well to 8 reloadings and 9 firings without development of neck splits or loosening of primer pockets.
