Kubota Garden is a 20-acre (81,000 m 2) Japanese garden in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. [1] A public park since 1987, it was started in 1927 by Fujitaro Kubota , a Japanese emigrant.

In 1981, the 4.5 acre core was designated a Historic Landmark, and the City of Seattle purchased the garden from the Kubota family in 1987. The garden is an urban oasis, criss-crossed with streams and paths, ponds and waterfalls, rich with flora and fauna and a popular destination year-round.

Self-Guided Tours. Detailed maps are located in a birdhouse-like structure near the kiosk. There are many trails through the Garden and all are open to the public. The map shows which paths have easier terrain and which are more challenging.
