I'm 38 and I have to add dumbbell or kettlebell stuff to gain muscle with 1 hour 3 times per week. If it's only bodyweight I have to do something like four or five to notice. Also eat a lot of protein. Like I'm 140/150 pounds and eat at least 80g of protein per day if I want to notice new muscle.
I've been doing full body 3x a week, only switching to Upper Lower 6x a week and back every few months, only in recent years moved to full body 4x a week and I've gone from 136 to 194lbs in the time since I started lifting seriously after a surgery. It's been effective in my experience!

Hi, here is my full-body workout I've been doing for 2 years now. It takes me about 1h to do it. I do it on Monday - Wednesday - Friday (so 1 day of rest in between each workout - and on Sunday I try to do some skills workout).
