Ananda Mahidol [b] (20 September 1925 – 9 June 1946) was the eighth king of Siam (later Thailand) from the Chakri dynasty, titled Rama VIII. At the time he was recognised as king by the National Assembly in March 1935, he was a nine-year-old boy living in Switzerland.

They also had free reign of the country most of the time, as the king was too young, and needed to stay away from Thailand for education. A Council of Regent that was set up would pose no trouble for the government either.
