22 lut 2014 · Yes, you want to escape the Mun in a retrograde direction relative to the Mun's orbit around Kerbin, but the delta-V required to do that shouldn't depend on whether your orbit around the Mun is prograde or retrograde -- you just start your burn on the opposite side of the Mun in one case vs. the other.
An efficient direct return burn from the Mun's equator has your Mun escape trajectory aligned opposite to the Mun's orbit. Making your escape burn largely act as a retrograde burn at apoapsis of your orbit of Kerbin.
You just have to combine your Mun escape with a reduction in your Kerbin orbital velocity, which makes you have a very lopsided orbit, with an apoapsis at the Mun's altitude but a periapsis inside Kerbin's atmosphere, and you aerobrake your apoapsis down.
3 kwi 2012 · The easiest way to get back to Kerbin from the Mun I found is to get in orbit eastward around the Mun, when you see Kerbin rise on the horizon, you boost prograde until an apoapsis of 5-10 millions meters. 13 millions is the real number, but it work below that if you\'re low on fuel.
You want to escape retrograde to the Mun ("behind" it), parrallel to its trajectory. keep burning prograde until you get a Kerbin apoapsis of 60k if you're patient, 30k if you want to land as soon as possible. A good way to know if your Mun escape was efficient is to look at the next predicted Kerbin apoapsis (purple Ap label).
To return from the Mun burn prograde at some point between Kerbin-rise and Kerbin-noon. Once you achieve escape velocity you can see you Kerbin orbit in map mode and cut off engines when your Kerbin periapsis is where you want it to be.
17 maj 2015 · While if you would ascent entirely vertical, straight into an escape trajectory, you have to achieve over 800 m/s in a short time span. At a TWR of 10 you can accelerate at 16.3 m/s 2, which would take roughly 50 seconds, during which you are also fighting the Mun's gravity.
