3 cze 2013 · Civil War Forage Caps: A Review of Major Sutlers. Ever since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by the Civil War forage cap, or bummer. Often erroneously called a kepi, the forage cap is distinguished by the taller crown and lack of a prominent welt around the crown disc’s top edge.
3 cze 2013 · I bought both an officer's kepi and an officer's Hardee hat from Dirty Billy. Excellent quality, but very poor customer service. I waited two and a half YEARS for the kepi to arrive and when it did, it was so small that it fit atop my head like a yarmulke.
12 mar 2022 · The description of the cap from the dealer is completely wrong, a kepi has an indented crown, while a US M1858 forage cap has a flat crown with a welted reed around the disk, such as this piece. The piece in question is neither and if anything is a state contract which will be difficult to ascertain.
