A return to the biblical text in the prologue (the Gospel According to John 1:1–18) provides a clue to why Jesus’ name is so important. The Gospel According to John 1:12 records: “But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God.”
The Prologue begins on a cosmic note with a reference to Creation. The author has chosen words and symbols with which people of varying backgrounds would resonate.

31 gru 2016 · Reflection: John 1:1-18. Seventh Day in the Octave of Christmas - John 1:1-18. “In the beginning was the Word.” These six words are the opening words in John’s Gospel. There is great power in these words, simple as they are. These simple words tell us that Christ “was” before all else came to be!
These first 18 verses can be divided into three sections: Vs. 1-5 gives Christ's relation to God, creation, the spiritual life and light. Vs. 6-11 gives Christ after His incarnation.
