Best thing you can do is simply never click a link from an email. If you get a notice from WWE.com asking you to check your account, open a browser and manually type in the address yourself. Email links can be disguised and used to redirect you to malware or other nasty sites.
Usually there are a few small giveaways to indicate phishing scams in the title of the email, who it's from, and the domain of the sender. Also, if you're able to hover over the link without clicking it to see the source, you can see where the link will lead and if it seems legit or not.
This email is legit for sure. I tried going into my actual reddit account (not through their link, directly on reddit) after receiving the same email as you today, went to "User Settings", and in emails it showed my email was not verified and I could click on "resend" (for a verification email).
