Brussels Ferry. Operated by the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Brussels Ferry offers free ferry transportation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the Illinois River at State Route 100 (about one mile north of Grafton) and the Illinois River Road in Calhoun County.

The first, operating out of Brussels has been adopted by the Illinois Dept. of Transportation. It operates 24 hours a day and is free.

The ferry to Brussels Illinois is a must do if you're in the area. Especially if you are headed back to St. Charles Missouri or areas near there. The ferry holds up to 15 or so cars on a low barge with a tug boat that is attached by a swivel mechanism. The ride is quick, maybe 7 to 10 minutes once you are underway.
