14 maj 2024 · Synthetic cannabinoids are lab-made drugs. Spice is a nickname for a substance containing one or more synthetic cannabinoids. Synthetic cannabinoids were originally designed to mimic the effects of cannabis. However, they are more harmful and unpredictable than cannabis.

Reference to the term synthetic marijuana is misleading and suggests these drugs are well tolerated. In actuality they are dangerous and unpredictable.

But, despite well-known issues, these drugs are still in demand and homeless people, particularly, are at risk of mental health issues from their use.
Unlike THC, the synthetic cannabinoids present in Spice are high-potency, high-efficacy, cannabinoid-receptor full agonists. Since standard urine toxicology does not test for the synthetic cannabinoids in Spice, it is often used by those who want to avoid detection of drug use.
