I wanted to print her winning photo in large format and hang it there as well, as a surprise. She's very easy going but I don't want to break a taboo unknowingly. Is it generally considered okay to do this?
Is there anything I should be aware of, or anything I should do before sending the photos to the print shop? What format should the photos be sent in, or is jpg enough? Any resources would be greatly appreciated, my attempts at googling have not been very successful.

One, your question is quite free form and ethics are subjective and will depend quite greatly on the photographer in question. I post a number of pictures on the internet and I couldn't give a single shit if someone decided to take my low res picture, print it and hang it.
