The Iliad would be an extremely difficult poem to adapt into a film faithfully. The poem recalls hundreds of heroes and their deaths to really give the war a sense of scale and tragedy, and this doesn't seem suited for a feature length 3 act structure.

Incorporating imaginative elements into the sincerity of religion, they are magical realism of the highest order, wherein humans coexist with monsters. The gods were as flawed as humans, making them relatable.
