Firearms Services Bureau. The Firearms Services Bureau, through its Firearm Owner’s Identification Card Program (FOID), determines the eligibility of applicants who wish to acquire, possess, or transfer firearms. The Bureau also administers the state’s Concealed Carry Licensing (CCL) program.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) has reinstituted the “Fast Track” Program which provides an opportunity for certified police officers to become Illinois State Troopers through participation in an accelerated training program. The duration of a Fast Track Cadet Class is approximately 13 weeks.
To legally possess firearms or ammunition, Illinois residents must have a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card, which is issued by the Illinois State Police to any qualified applicant.
