Microcrystalline waxes are tougher, more flexible and generally higher in melting point than paraffin wax. The fine crystal structure also enables microcrystalline wax to bind solvents or oil, and thus prevent the sweating-out of compositions.

Uses: IGI 1230A is usually used for release and as a process aid. Protection: Mainly used as a process wax, but provides some static ozone protection. Polymers: NR, most synthetic elastomers, plastics. Synergism: Synergistic with p -phenylene diamine (PPD) antidegradants for maximum static and dynamic ozone protection. Staining: Non-staining.
