Huntington is a city in Angelina County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,025 at the 2020 census. [ 4 ] The site is named for Collis Potter Huntington, the chairman of the board of the Southern Pacific Railroad when the town was formed and one of the Big Four.
The City of Huntington is located in eastern Angelina County Texas on U.S. Highway 69 between Lufkin and Zavalla. The city is situated northeast of Diboll and west of Lake Sam Rayburn. It was incorporated on December 12, 1938. Huntington is popularly known as the " Gateway to Lake Sam Rayburn ".

Carved from virgin forests in the heyday of the southern pine timber industry and established in 1900, Huntington was named for Collis P. Huntington, chairman of the board of the Southern Pacific Railroad. E. A. Blount and W. J. Townsend, Sr., established a townsite and sold lots at a public auction in June 1900.
